Sunset Logistics & Materials LLC was built on hard work, determination and grit 35 years ago. Driving trucks for my grandfather and working alongside my father is how I developed a deep respect for the industry and the people in it.  At 23 years old, I saved enough to purchase my own 10-wheeler driven with the dream that I would build a company of my own. In September of 1991 I purchased two trucks, marking the official beginning of Sunset Cartage, Inc.  

 

In 2002, I expanded the fleet by acquiring Lyman Martin Trucking, a company that had been serving the industry since 1923. This expansion allowed Sunset to grow its customer base and extend services to additional counties strengthening its presence throughout the greater Chicagoland area laying the foundation for today. 

In 2005, Waspi trucking company’s assets were purchased, including a truck terminal. This also expanded the company in purchasing material and warehousing which established Sunset Logistics, LLC the same year.

With the 2009 economy looking dim, I began to look for other opportunities to thrive in the market. We started hauling transfer loads for the waste industry.

To continue expanding and better serving our customers’ needs, Sunset took a major step forward in 2011 with the purchase of our first limestone quarry. This milestone allowed us to move beyond transportation and become a direct supplier of materials. As demand grew, Sunset further expanded by acquiring a sand and gravel pit and additional quarry locations, strengthening our ability to provide reliable logistics alongside high-quality materials. This growth positioned Sunset Logistics & Materials as a trusted, full-service partner—delivering both the materials and the dependable hauling our customers rely on.
